The musicians of the Quintessenza Brass have all collaborated with some of the most important Italian and foreign music institutions. They performed in various cities around the world under the direction of famous conductors such as Muti, Baremboin, Mehta, Maazel, Pappano, Sinopoli, Gatti, Chung, Temirkanov, Nagano and Morricone. They performed in many important venues in Italy and abroad, for example Castel Sant'Angelo, Teatro Valle, San Marco al Campidoglio, the Center for American Studies in Rome and la Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo in Naples.
They were special guests at the Santa Fiora in Musica Festival and the Tolfa Jazz Festival. They also played for the Weimar Rotary Club in Germany and the Music Union of Novazzano in Switzerland. The Quintet has a wide repertoire which ranges from baroque to classical, contemporary and Jazz music, as well as original works composed specifically for brass instruments. Several pieces have been composed and arranged especially for them by leading musicians such as the composer and trombonist Marcello Rosa.
The Quintessenza Brass specialized in chamber music at the Hochschule fur Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar under prof. Walter Hilgers (German Brass). They were awarded the “Forder preis” at the XIII International Competition for Brass Ensembles in Passau, Germany and also received an award in the Chamber Music section at the IV International Competition of Philadelphia (VV) and at the XIX National Competition of Chamber Music "Giulio Rospigliosi’.
Their first album "ARIA" was released in December 2014 and has been recently reviewed on Vatican Radio. The album features a special appearance by soloist trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso.
Described by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as an "aristocrat of the piano", Luigi Carroccia has won numerous prizes in National and International Competitions, including the "Virtuoso Prize" at the Vendome Piano Prize held during the 2019 Verbier Festival and the "Premio Abbado" organized by the Italian Ministry of Culture in memory of Claudio Abbado. He also distinguished himself at the "Cliburn Competition" in Fort Worth, the "Ferruccio Busoni Competition” in Bolzano and the “Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition” in Warsaw where he received enthusiastic praise from both critics and musicians such as K. Zimerman and M. Argerich. Luigi undertook his musical studies under the guidance of his father and grandfather, both musicians. His artistic maturation then continued at the “C. Monteverdi” of Bolzano where he obtained his Piano Degrees with full marks and honor. In 2016 he received a Junior Fellowship from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and from 2018 to 2022 he was Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. His concert activity has seen him regularly engaged in Italy and abroad for festivals such as the Duszniki International Chopin Piano Festival, the Miami International Piano Festival, the Dresdner Musikfestspiele and in halls such as the Ishibashi Memorial Hall of the University of Tokyo, Flagey in Brussels, the Symphony Hall and Town Hall in Birmingham, the Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Museo Teatrale alla Scala in Milan and the Salle Bourgie in Montreal.
