Julian Kainrath was born in 2005. He started studying violin with violinist and pedagogue Dora Schwarzberg and at just 12 years old he got admitted at the University of Fine Arts in Graz, Austria, in the class of Maestro Boris Kuschnir. Julian made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra in South America (Bolivia) in 2015, at the age of 10. Soon after, he was invited by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine to perform in Kiev. At 13, he toured with the Chamber Orchestra Innstrumenti. In addition, he performed at the Festival Arsonore in Graz, at the concert series ‘Young Excellence in Concert’ in Salzburg, at the festival Musica in Aulis in Bressanone, and participated in a RAI TV broadcast, performing works by Paganini and Bartók.
Julian participated in only one violin competition at the age of ten, the Austrian competition for young musicians ‘Prima la Musica,’ where he was awarded 1st prize. At the age of 14, he was selected as “student in residence” at the 26th Verbier Festival. He attended Ilya Gringolts’ class at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and had the opportunity to perform a recital with Gringolts dedicated to Steve Reich.
He also attended the Sommerakademie Schloss Heiligenberg under the guidance of Marc Bouchkov and was awarded a prize for his performances. In past seasons, he was invited to perform at many venues in Italy, including the Settimane Musicali di Merano, the Società dei Concerti in Milan, the Mattinate Musicali Internazionali in Trieste, the Camerata Ducale in Vercelli, and the Bolzano Festival with the Streicherakademie Bozen. Julian’s appearances included recitals with pianists Till Fellner and Louis Lortie.
Since 2023, he studies with violinist Marc Bouchkov at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège in Belgium. Julian is also a scholarship holder of the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein.
Described by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as an "aristocrat of the piano", Luigi Carroccia has won numerous prizes in National and International Competitions, including the "Virtuoso Prize" at the Vendome Piano Prize held during the 2019 Verbier Festival and the "Premio Abbado" organized by the Italian Ministry of Culture in memory of Claudio Abbado.
He also distinguished himself at the "Cliburn Competition" in Fort Worth, the "Ferruccio Busoni Competition” in Bolzano and the “Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition” in Warsaw where he received enthusiastic praise from both critics and musicians such as K. Zimerman and M. Argerich. Luigi undertook his musical studies under the guidance of his father and grandfather, both musicians. His artistic maturation then continued at the “C.
Monteverdi” of Bolzano where he obtained his Piano Degrees with full marks and honor. In 2016 he received a Junior Fellowship from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and from 2018 to 2022 he was Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo.
His concert activity has seen him regularly engaged in Italy and abroad for festivals such as the Duszniki International Chopin Piano Festival, the Miami International Piano Festival, the Dresdner Musikfestspiele and in halls such as the Ishibashi Memorial Hall of the University of Tokyo, Flagey in Brussels, the Symphony Hall and Town Hall in Birmingham, the Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Museo Teatrale alla Scala in Milan and the Salle Bourgie in Montreal.
